Mediation is one of the ways through which issues brought to JCU are handled and/ or solved. It is avery time and cost-effective way to resolve disputesbetween two parties. It isput into action before resort can be made to court.
Themediation is startedwith sneutral letter from JCUwhich is sent to the person against whom the complaint is lodged. It is aninvitation to participate in a mediation session.It is delivered to the respondent either by you as a client, through the Local Council 1 chairperson, or by a JCU paralegal.
Both parties are invited to come totheJCU office for the mediation. Either partycan bring in persons to supportan amicable settlement (witnesses,opinion leaders, advocates, etc.).
Duration:Two hours max. for one session. AMemorandum of Understandingwill be signed when parties agree on the given case.
