Legal Representation (Litigation)

Our in-house advocates represent indigent and vulnerable clients in civil and criminal cases, in court, at no cost.

Where a matter must go to court, our in-house advocates represent clients who cannot afford a lawyer — in both civil and criminal cases.

Who we represent

Representation is directed to indigent and vulnerable people who pass a means and merit assessment, ensuring free services reach those who genuinely cannot pay.

The wider impact

In Uganda there is a direct link between the court case backlog and people’s inability to afford lawyers. By representing those without means — including through the state brief scheme — we help cases conclude in time and reduce the backlog.
