The Justice Law and Order Sector brings together the institutions responsible for administering justice and maintaining law and order in Uganda — including the Judiciary, the Uganda Police Force, the Uganda Prisons Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs — under one coordinated framework.
Our partnership
Justice Centres Uganda was established under this sector framework, and it remains the backbone of our work. Through the partnership, our offices operate alongside courts and other justice institutions, our clients are connected to the right institution for their matter, and sector-wide initiatives — such as the Prison Decongestion Programme and the state brief scheme — give our advocates practical channels for moving cases forward.
What it means for our clients
Because we work inside the sector rather than outside it, a client who walks into a Justice Centre is never far from the institution that can resolve their matter — whether that is a magistrate court, a police station, a prosecutor or a prison authority. Coordination shortens the distance between seeking help and receiving justice.
