DESCRIPTION:The Centre conducted 1 police outreach at Mukono Central Police Station (CPS) located in Mukono Municipality, Mukono District reaching out to 36(32m, 4f) suspects who were sensitized about the services offered by Justice Centres Uganda, bond and plea bargain. Out of the 3m juveniles who were at the police station, 1m was a remandee pending testing for COVID-19 in order to be transferred to Naguru Remand Home and he was being taken to hospital that very day and the others were still new at the police who had been arrested in the evening on charges of theft of an electric metre and the centre is following up on this matter to see that the juvenile amicably settles the matter with the complaint while the other was being charged with theft of matooke. 5(3m, 2f) of the suspects were granted police bond.\nIssues identified \n\nIt is imperative to note that while police are trying to investigate and prepare police files in time, the complaints are still that the RSA delays to peruse the police files hence leading to overstays of suspects in police custody.\n\n
